This colorful and festive five-sided casket was painted by a well-known Palekh artist, Evgeniy Zhiryakov. The Zhiryakovs family is known all over the World. Evgeniy is married to established artist Galina Zhiryakova and they have two sons- Alexey and Andrey, also well-known Palekh artists.
Each side is showing one of Slavic Gods: Veles, Bereginya, Sea Tsar,Svarog, Yarilo and Perun.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Dark red lacquer covers the exterior and bright red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on the four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh and date (2013).
