This very detailed piece was painted by a well-known Palekh artist,Suloeva Nina. The feature of each work of Suloeva is the way she is using the final covering of the painting with the aid of gold. The gold is really shining!!!
Here we see a couple of troykas racing through a Summer landscape at the blistering paces while the drivers encourages the horses. The paces that are being set by the driver looks like it will not be slowing any time soon. The second driver even stand up!
Gold and aluminum paints are applied within the composition to add brightness and details. The application of metallic paints is very subtle yet yields great results!
On the background of the composition we can see a village with a Church and wooden houses.
The composition is painted in a palette filled with soft red, brown and yellow colors.
Intricate gold foliage ornamentation decorate the edges of the lid. Very complex and colorful flower ornament wraps around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the work while red lacquer completes the interior of the box.
The lid is hinged from the top of the composition. The box rests on four legs. The work is signed with artist's name, date(2018) and Palekh.
