This matryoshka (nestling doll) was made in Sergiev Posad. It is made out of wood and includes four dolls (five on the whole). Each doll features a pink-cheeked, brown-haired, freckled girl who laughs merrily and inspires good mood in the viewer. The maidens are dressed in the red and black costumes. They wear bright red dresses richly decorated with pink blossoms and black kerchiefs also decorated with pink blossoms. The combination of red and black tones is unusual and very beautiful. The blossoms are surrounded with green foliage; in case of three dolls of big size some of the foliage is painted in gold. The first (the biggest) and the second dolls wear pearl necklace. The work is signed by the artist (Lebedeva), and also there is the inscription: "Russia".
