This attractive piece was created by Mityunina Zina of Kholui. This artist specializes in ornamental and floral compositions while using soft tones with realistic floral colors. Skill and obvious knowledge are all attributes found in Zina's work.
The box is elegantly designed. In the center there is a bouquet of flowers painted against black background with a beautiful butterfly. The flowers are painted in soft tempera paints and detailed with gold paints. This scene is framed with an intricate gold floral pattern. Another golden patterns decorates the edges of the lid.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged at the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The artist wrote her name, Kholui, and the title-Summer.
