This appealing box was painted by talented Mstera artist Anton Yudin. In the middle of composition the Owl sitting on a tree is depicted. The bird is painted skillfully; its body is covered with very thin feathers.
The edges of this composition are encircled with amazingly thin and intricate gold filigree. Graceful swirls, sinuous scrollwork, delicate flowers and incredibly tiny dots and lines combine to create a symphony of forms. The precision and regularity in the artist's work here is truly breathtaking.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box isn't hinged and rests on a flat bottom. Upon completing the work on this piece the artist writes Mstera and signs his name on the bottom of the box.
